Ling Xiaoyu (Chinese: 凌曉雨 Líng Xiǎoyǔ Japanese: リン・シャオユウ Rin Shaoyū It may be written with given name first as Xiaoyu Ling) is a fictional character who was introduced to the Tekken franchise in Tekken 3 and has returned in every subsequent release. Slowed to i13 from i12Īs usual, please let me know if I got something wrong and let me know what I missed!Įdit: Somehow forgot to say 3 was an i14 launcher rather than just an i14 punisher.Carrie Savage (SFxTK) Please note: This name is Chinese "Ling" is a family name, not a given name the given name of this character is "Xiaoyu". Leaves you in AOP but can be canceled into Full Crouch New Move: f+4 (High), KND, Screws airborne opponents (S!) Power Crush (d/f+3) High, results in Knockdown (KND) Rage Art (b+1+2) and Rage Drive (RDS d+3,3+4) Not to mention her character design and costume have been heavily improved upon. I personally feel that T7's Ling is the best version of her yet since T3 and she plays exactly how you imagine you would if you were seeing the character for the first time: Agile, fluid and graceful. Ling's rage drive (RD d+3, 3+4) is also arguably the best in the game as it is an extremely fast low NC launcher which can also be used as a mix-up among RD's many other mid-attacks. Many of her old moves have been heavily buffed in T7 as well: AOP 2,1 and f,f+2,1 are NC which can be canceled into RD standing 3 is now a launcher new AOP 3 has better range and is a launcher on counter hit new d+3, 4 is faster and KB on counter hit etc. Ling's moveset also gained some pretty neat additions over the years namely AOP 1+2 f+1+2 f+2,1,4 that helps her improve her approach game, combos and wall game.

This evasive nature really forces her opponents to adapt their fighting style and to refrain from often using moves that can easily be whiffed by AOP or the b+3+4 sidestep animation. She no longer has to exert more effort to deal decent damage and also gets to keep her evasive, mixup style in tact. One of the main reasons why she's considered top tier is because her damage output has been scaled and fixed. Ling has changed drastically from T5:DR and T7. Not a pro, but I've been playing Arcade T7 a lot since 2015 and I've mained Ling since her inception in T3 so I'll share what I know. In my opinion, she's one of those characters you really just have to break down in training mode in order to fight be able to fight against on an even playing field. It's better to get peppered with pokes than to give her a wall combo and an oki opportunity. It helps to just be patient, she has plenty of wall-splatting tools and good oki to go with her crushing. Remember to hold down if you fail to break the sideswitch grab (in which she runs over you and kicks your back), so you don't get launchedįor the most part, just SSL and away from the wall if possible. If she does do the 1+2 throw then the Xiao will put themselves at the wall and you'll be relatively fine Her only command grabs IIRC consist of two 2 breaks and one 1+2, so you'd be pretty well off just hitting 2 whenever a grab comes out if you can't break throws on reaction.

Her throw game is limited thanks to the system changes in T7. If she's in BT, watch out for either 3 (super minus, like more than -16 but she's got pushback and crushing), 4 (-17?), or f+3+4, 3+4 (which is only -11)
#Tekken 7 xiaoyu how to
It'll make lots of punishers whiff even if you manage to anticipate/react and block it so you might want to take your character and Xiao to training in order to figure out how to deal with it. It's only -1 but the wall might make the pushback all weird so be careful if you try to jab or something to impose some frame advantageĪOP 4~3 is very problematic. If they're in AOP, they're probably going to go for 1+2 to get the wall splat, so try to be patient and just block. A couple things to look out for off the top of my head:
